We were in Texarkana on Thursday and we thought we were gonna be washed away with about 10 inches of rain. Many of you remember the late Homer Nelson. Relatives have received word that his wife, Parilee, has passed away and was buried in Brownfield, Texas. She is survived by two sons and two daughters. Katy Wilson spent Thursday night with Samantha Godwin and Samantha spent Friday night with Katy. We also congratulate Katy for receiving the fifth grade social studies award. Paul and Ellen Nelson from Dallas recently visited his sisters, Nettie Lemons and Faye Andrews. Clinton and Oleta Barham from Longview, Texas, and their son, Charles, and his wife Mary, who are missionaries to Japan, recently visited Oleta's sisters, Donnie Rinkle and Lucy Taylor. Word has been received that Paul Whitten passed away at his home in Warren. Paul lived in our community with Bernard and Faye Andrews several years ago. Darrel, Lucky and Faye attended the funeral in Warren. Pauline Denton from Lubbock, Texas, and Mary Kathleen Nelson Holterbosch from Oyster Bay, N.Y., are spending some time at the home of their late mother, Nannie Nelson. Al and Peggy Butrick from Summit, Miss., is spending this week with Billie Ridling. Word has been received that Rose Rinkle passed away suddenly on Sunday afternoon. Her husband, Jimmy, was buried about three weeks ago. Even though he is still recovering from his motorcycle accident, Grant Golden visited his grandparents, George and Joy Cox, on Saturday. Bobby and Laura Pilgreen hosted a get together for all the members of Shady Grove Baptist Church. About 50 attended and enjoyed fishing, boat paddling, riding four wheelers and playing ball.
