Once again it's time for the Southwest Arkansas Football Camp.

Campers will be divided into two leagues for drills and games. Grades 7-8 will be the American League, while those in grades 10-112 will comprise the National League.

Campers must supply their own shorts, shoes and socks. They will be given a camp T- shirt. Helmets and shoulder pads will be used and issued by the schools participating.

The objective of the camp is to be a "blue collar" camp where the players learn the value of hard work.

All coaches and campers are dedicated to the concept of hard work and quality instruction. The campers will see and learn techniques of leadership, citizenship and self- discipline.

The camp will be held at Prescott High School July 14-16, from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m., with times adjusted if needed.

The tuition will be $45 per athlete.

Those coaches involved will bring a combined 81 years of football experience with them to the camp. The coaches include: Eddie Jackson of Hampton; Gary Segrest of Hot Springs Lakeside; John Pace of Gurdon; and David Bennett of Prescott.

The instructional objectives will include showing potential quarterbacks the proper stance, center exchange, ball handling, faking, footwork, passing release and follow through, play calling and field leadership.

Running backs will be taught the proper stance, ball handling, faking, ball carrying, running, blocking and pass receiving.

Those playing on the offensive line will learn about stance, starts, blocking techniques and pass protection.

The receivers will learn stance, running pass patterns, pass catching and how to block.

The defensive line players will also learn stance, pursuit, how to properly deliver a blow, alignment, how to read offensive keys, pass rushing and gap responsibility.

Linebackers will be taught about stance, alignment, pursuit, pass coverage and run responsibilities.

The secondary players will be taught stance, alignment, pass coverage, interception reads and footwork.

Special teams players will be taught deep snapping, punting, place kicking, how to kick off, kick off returns and catching kicks.

Students will be instructed in weight training as well, being taught the proper lifting techniques, strength and weight development, weight room safety, the use of weight belts and how to properly use free weights.

Anyone who is in grades 7-12 and is interested in participating should contact one of the coaches involved about filling out a registration form.

Registration deadline is July 7, with the camp fee needing to be paid by July 14.

Awards will be presented to campers in a variety of categories on the final day of camp, Thursday, July 16.
