Those interested in the Prescott- Nevada County Chamber of Commerce Fashion Show and Golf Tournament Saturday, June 6, need to get tickets and entered.

A total of 50 seats are available for the fashion show, with each ticket costing $7.50, while only 54 teams will be taken for the two-man scramble golf tourney.

However, June will open with a ribbon cutting, grand opening for Funshine Furniture Thursday, June 4.

The ribbon cutting will be held at 11 a.m., followed by a luncheon. State Rep. Percy Malone and Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor will be guest speakers at this event.

Originally, the Funshine ceremonies had been scheduled for noon, but the time frame was changed to an hour earlier.

The Annual Chamber Summer Classic golf tourney will have two tee times, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The entry fee per team is $60, with prizes going to the top three finishers in each flight.

Teams entering must have players at least 18-years-old.

The size of the field will determine the prizes awarded. With a full field of 54 teams, first prize in each flight will be a gift certificate for $225. Second place will receive a certificate for $150, while third place will net a certificate worth $75.

The facilities of the Prescott Country Club will be open to players and their families.

Refreshments will be available at various locations on the course.

From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m., the Chamber's annual fashion show will take center stage.

Tickets, because of seating, are being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Chad Cornelius will be the master of ceremonies at the fashion show.

The show will feature not only clothing, but jewelry items offered by local merchants. In addition, a show to display hair styles will be featured.

Beth Ward will provide a beauty demonstration, showing those attending how to update their wardrobe with a new look.

Door prizes will be given out. For more information about the tourney and fashion show, contact the Chamber at 887-2101.

And, it's also time to start thinking about the annual Chicken and Egg Festival.

The festival is slated for the weekend of July 17-18, at the Prescott City Park.

T-shirts can be purchased in advance from the Chamber, or by calling Karen McLelland at the Bank of Prescott.

The shirts will come in youth sizes 6-16, along with adult sizes small, medium and large for $9 each. Extra large will be $10 each, while those XX and XXX will cost $11 each.

Adult shirts will be available in stone color, while youth shirts will be yellow.

Chamber Manager Mary Godwin said it has been a popular practice in the past for merchants and businesspeople to wear the shirts on Fridays until the festival arrives.

This year's shirts were designed by PHS graduate Tamara Marlar.

A limited number of shirts have been ordered for direct sale to the public. Other shirts may be ordered through the Chamber.

The festival, again this year, will feature the annual softball tournament, tennis tourney and three-on-three basketball contest, along with other sporting events.

The annual variety show will be held Friday evening on the festival stage.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, the little miss and mister pageant will be held on the stage. Godwin said changes in this pageant are being made and will be announced when completed.

For more information about the festival, the golf tourney or fashion show, contact the Chamber at 887-2101.
