Charley WalkerPublished Wednesday, June 10, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneCharley Walker, 77, of Kerrville, Texas, died Friday, May 29, 1998, in a Kerrville nursing home. Mr. Walker, a lifetime Kerrville resident, was born February 24, 1921, in Hot Springs. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Kerrville, where he was a deacon and taught junior boys Sunday school and sang in the church choir. He was married to Iris Fanning on December 21, 1940, in Kerrville. Survivors include his wife, Iris Walker of Kerrville; a son, Charley Walker Jr, of Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Modene Morris of Kerrville and Beatrice Wallis of Pfluegerville, Texas; three brothers, Louis Walker of Hot Springs, Leslie Walker of Prescott and Clarence Walker of San Antonio, Texas; an aunt, Ann Hargreaves of Kerrville; an uncle, Marvin Bailey of Kerrville; numerous nieces and nephews; and longtime friends, Borden Sauer and Frank Jones. Funeral services were Monday, June 1, at Grimes Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Dale Durham officiating. Burial was in Glen Rest Cemetery. Pallbearers were Dale Irby, Mike Guerrero, Ernie Garza, Norman Houghton, Stanley Swindle, Wade Heimann and Luis Perez. Honorary pallbearers include the deacons of the First Baptist Church of Kerrville. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the charity of one's choice.
