Buchanan,Sanders Wed In El DoradoPublished Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesGretchen Jo Buchanan and Jerry Lynn Sanders were united in marriage at 7:30 p.m. on June 13 at First Presbyterian Church of El Dorado with the Rev. John S. Byerly and Dr. Dennis P. Falasco officiating, The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David A. Patterson and Mr. and Mrs. L. Greggory Buchanan, all of El Dorado. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. DeWoody of Gurdon and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lindell L. Buchanan of Prescott. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerald G. Sanders of Hazen. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert Forrester and the late Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Sanders, all of Hazen. Nuptial music was provided by organist Tammy Reap, pianist Lisa McBrayer and vocalist Angela Argo. The bride was given in marriage by her parents and was escorted down the aisle by her father. She wore a formal gown of candlelight satin, Alencon lace and silk illusion. The sweetheart neckline with re-embroidered jewel scallops was accented by a Basque waist and a jeweled peplum. The long sleeves encrusted with pearls and iridescent sequins ended in scalloped points at the wrist. A tiered Alencon lace jewel design accented the front of the bouffant skirt and swept to a pearl encrusted cathedral train. Her tiara, wrapped in silk illusion accented with pearls, held the cascading silk illusion veil. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of white Casablanca lilies, Melody roses and white Freesia tied with French ribbons and accented with a keepsake handkerchief. Bridal attendants were maid of honor Barbie Sudar and bridesmaids Laura Akin, Becky Burke, Amanda Jackson, Laura Jennings, Sandi Miller and Ashley Ratliff. They wore floor length periwinkle suits with crossing lapels held by jeweled buttons. They carried gathered clutch bouquets of Melody roses, purple statis and gardenias accented with rosemary. The groom was attended by his father, Gerald Sanders, who served as his best man, and groomsmen Stephen Duch, Stefan Elmore, Sammy High, Spencer Hill, Jeremy Riddle and Shane Sanders. Serving as ushers were Donny Bradley, Adam Buchanan, Kevin Garrison, Brian Mahoney and Chad Rawls. Other attendants included flower girls Candace Adams and Shana Sanders. Amanda Stouppe attended the guest book, with Alison Ingram and Jennifer Olivier handing out programs. The reception followed at the El Dorado Racquet Club. The bride's cake was a four-tiered basket weave waterfall cake adorned with flowers. The groom's cake was a three-tiered chocolate cake accented with dipped strawberries. The servers were Allison Barnard, Lynne Hollaway, Brandy Pate, Kristen Riddle, Jana Seddar, Deia Smith and Katie Taylor. Following a week-long trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in West Memphis while the bride completes her occupational therapy internship and the groom continues studying dentistry at the University of Tennessee at Memphis.
