Sonic 'Fun Days' BackPublished Wednesday, June 17, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesFun Day is back at the Sonic Drive In. According to Sonic Manager Mary Smith, Fun Day will be June 18 from 4-6 p.m. The activities planned include a Kid-Care program where children will have Polaroid photos taken of them, as well as being fingerprinted by the Gurdon Police Department. This is being done for the Missing Children Program and is free. Smith said the program is first-come, first-serve for children age 12 months to 5 years of age. "It'll be like a passport," she said. KIX radio will be on hand for a live remote broadcast of the festivities, which include a beach party and beach-style games. There will be a hula-hoop contest, a limbo contest and frisbee contest, to name a few. Prizes will be awarded to the winners, and several "mystery guests" will be on hand to receive ice cream desserts. Smith said this is being done to show how Sonic appreciates its customers. Later in July, she said, KISS radio will be on hand for a remote as well. In addition, Smith said Sonic will be participating in the Rotary Fan Program. Anyone with a fan to donate, she said, can call the Sonic restaurant and the fans will be picked up. However, these fans need to be in good working condition, as they will be given to the elderly and infirm to help them cope with the blistering summer heat.
