RedlandHazel MeeksPublished Wednesday, October 6, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune I just wonder if I might get a job weather predicting. I believe I could do as good as they do, especially here in Nevada County. Cline and Wilma Compton visited Richard and Gwen Holder in Emmet on Sunday. Betty and Jim Roberson from Dallas spent the weekend with her mother, Lucy Taylor, and her brother, Bobby Taylor, and his family. Harvey and Faye Taylor are trying to improve Harvey's looks by attending a beauty convention in Florida. A good number from Shady Grove Baptist Church attended services at Hillcrest Rehab on Sunday. Randy, Charity and Caleb Lowdermilk spent the weekend with her brother and sister-in-law, Chris and Ginger Meeks, in Dallas. We all wish the best for Glendene Haynie. She is seriously ill at her home. A good school friend of mine came by for a nice visit last week. Benny Whalthall and I spent a couple years in school together at Bluff City. Benny now lives in Texarkana. I would love to say thanks to each and every visit, call, all the food and prayers during my illness. I am improving, but I still have a long road to go. Ronnie, I hear from you daily and expect you to be home soon. At the church door after the service, the pastor bent down low to hear a small boy: "When I grow up I'm going to give you some money." The minister was moved, "Well thank you, but why?" "Because my daddy says you're one of the poorest preachers we've ever heard." Jack and Ruby Bidwell from Farmington, N.M., have returned to their home after visiting friends and relatives here. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
