Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, June 24, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune Merdis McNeely Green's funeral was held at Camden Saturday. He was buried at Whites Church Cemetery. Rose Washington's funeral was held at White's Chapel last week. Rowland Fisher's wife was buried Friday at Pine Grove A.M.E. Church. Rev. Hilton preached for Rev. Bobby Young at Oak Grove Baptist Church Sunday. Rev. Young was on vacation. Revival meeting will start at Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church Monday night and will go on all week. There will be a different speaker every night. Rev. Hardman and his wife, Betty, visited the sick people in Oak Grove community Sunday afternoon. The Sunday school convention will be held at Ward's Chapel A.M.E. Church this week, starting Thursday, June 25, and going through Saturday, June 27. It starts at 7:00 p.m. Rev. Colter is the pastor and Rev. Thomas Adair is the presiding elder. Eunice Blake is real sick. She is on life support. She was in the nursing home in Camden. She is our Eastern Star sister. Let's pray for her and her family. Lewrine Sockwell Hopson and her husband visited George and me last week and the Holleman family. She finished school at Oak Grove and rode George's bus, who was the bus driver at the time. Our school reunion will soon be here, the 3rd and 4th of July. We are looking forward to seeing our former teacher, Katherine Scott, who will be the speaker at the banquet. She was a real good teacher.
