Friday Night Reflections

Prescott's Wolf Gang D' did it Friday night, taking care of the Nashville offense just like old times.

Ten times the Wolves sacked a trio of Nashville quarterbacks. Three times they intercepted passes, scoring twice on two of the interceptions. Two more TD's could have been made when the quarterback fumbled, if the officials had let Prescott fans make the calls.

In the first period, Brandon Arnold was sacked three times for losses of 7, 17 and 10 yards with the last resulting in a turnover.

The second period wasn't much better for Arnold. He was sacked twice by Andrew Fellows for losses of 9 and 6 yards.

Arnold was sacked three times in the third quarter. Fellows and Calvin Flemons got him for a 12-yard loss; then Flemons threw him for five more yards; and the last came again from Fellows with a five-yard loss.

He was sacked twice in the fourth period; each were fumbles with Prescott getting the ball.

Fellows hit him the most, followed by Flemons and Rafael Marlowe and Fred Hopson as well as some others, I'm sure.

Hopson hit Nashville running back Michael McFadden so hard once he was several minutes getting to his feet. While he may be bruised at the time of this writing, all the hit did to him Friday night was flip him head over heels and take his wind. It was a long time coming back as he struggled to do so before coaches and trainers could get to him. Everyone was thankful that was all that was wrong with him.

Was Nashville's defense so bad it couldn't get to Prescott quarterback Josh Bullock? We think not. The offensive line of Prescott should get credit for doing an outstanding job against the Scrappers. They not only protected Bullock, but they providing blocks for the backfield.

Coach David Bennet initiated some different offensive plays that would have made the Scrappers look real terrible if they had succeeded. A slip on the grass on two different occasions was the reason they failed. That's part of the game, too.

The spirit celebration in preparation of last Friday's game was commendable to everyone involved. We offer thanks to all those participating for their time involved. Let's carry that same spirit this Friday night to De Queen in search of a 3-0 conference record.

Prescott's football squad needs to remember the game on September 17 at Gurdon. Gurdon played Prescott with as much enthusiasm as the Curley Wolves played Nashville this past Friday night. Let's all hope that the Curley Wolves do not follow Gurdon's lead after their big win' over Prescott. They lost the next ball game to Mineral Springs, a team Prescott defeated to begin the season.

What's in store this week for the Curley Wolves? If the same team that played Friday night makes it to De Queen, it will be victory for Prescott. It the team that went to Gurdon shows up, chalk up a conference loss.
