Ward, a 1998 graduate of Prescott High School, has been awarded an Alumni Scholarship to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The scholarship has a four-year value of over $7,300. Ward plans to major in political science. She is the daughter of Ned and Karen Ward of Prescott. Vicki Vasser of Prescott has been named to the dean's list in the College of Business Administration at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. To receive this honor, a student must rank in the upper 10 percent of students in their individual school or college and carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Vasser is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Vasser of Prescott. Lindsay Catherine Franks, a recent graduate of Prescott High School, has been awarded an academic scholarship by Louisiana Tech University in Ruston. The scholarship is based on ACT scores, grade point average, class rank and teacher recommendation. In addition, Franks received a Juanita Ward Taylor Foundation Scholarship, awarded through First United Methodist Church of Prescott. The children of Mrs. Juanita Taylor have established a scholarship foundation in memory of their mother, a long time teacher in Prescott. Franks has been an active member of the Prescott community, serving as the director of the Nevada County Youth Leadership Task Force. The Partnership guides the task force and works with the youth board in an advisory capacity. The Arkansas Legislature enacted the Community Service Credit Program to provide high school students with real life work experience through volunteerism. Franks worked with district administrators to make this program a reality at PHS in the 1997-98 school year. She was the first student in Prescott schools to take part in the program. All students receive one high school credit toward graduation with the successful completion of their service project. Her other activities have included cheering for the Curley Wolves for six years, serving as co-editor of the Wolf Trail, and she was campaign manager for Jarrod Yates, the new FBLA state president. She has been actively involved in National Honor Society, Key Club and she served as vice president of Future Business Leaders of America. Franks has been named an outstanding senior, an honor graduate and a Kiwanis honor student for three years. She also represented PHS at Arkansas Girl's State in the summer of 1997. Franks is the daughter of Jim and Lindy Franks. She is the granddaughter of Dorotha Franks, Pat Brannan and Johnny Brannon, all of Prescott.
