Shirley A. Anderson, 61, of Baton Rouge, La., formerly of Prescott, died Sunday, July 5, 1998.

Miss Anderson was born June 7, 1937, in Prescott. She was a retired teacher of art in both Arkansas and Louisiana. She studied art at Southern Illinois University for two years and received her bachelor of science degree in education with a major in art and education from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia in 1969. She attended Louisiana State University, where she studied sculpture. She received a graduate teaching assistantship in art education and graduated with a master of arts degree in 1988. Miss Anderson taught art for 16 years in both Arkansas and Baton Rouge. From 1989 to 1995 she was employed by Rhone-Poulenc Basic Chemicals in Baton Rouge, La.,

Survivors include one sister, Maye Anderson Maas of Morgan Hill, Calif.; one niece, Shawn Maas Miller of Los Gatos, Calif.; two nephews, Adam Maas of Agoura Hills, Calif., and Michael Maas of Santa Barbara, Calif.; and a very dear friend and companion, Ann Caldwell of Baton Rouge, La.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 9, at 9:30 a.m. in DeAnn Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home of Prescott.
