Edward AllenPublished Wednesday, July 8, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneEdward Allen, 84, of Hope died Saturday, July 4, 1998, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. Mr. Allen was born July 22, 1913, in Hempstead County to James 'Bud' Gordon and Alma Smith Allen. He was a retired self-employed owner-operator of Shover Springs Grocery Company, a member of Bodcaw #1 Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Lola Allen of Hope; three sons, Terry Lynn Allen of Charlotte, N.C., and James Mike Allen and Ken Allen both of Hope; one daughter, Linda Blackmon of Hope; two brothers, John Lynn Allen of Grove, Texas, and Lonnie Ray Allen of Hope; three sisters, Lucy Barnes of Hope, Dorothy White of Charleston and Princess Jean Meyers of Minnesota; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Funeral services were Monday, July 6, at Bodcaw #1 Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Joe Wright and Rev. Tom Stephens officiating.
