College NewsPublished Wednesday, July 8, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneTamika Maria Leaks of Rosston has been awarded an Entering Freshman Scholarship by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. The scholarships are awarded to high school graduates who earned a 3.25 cumulative grade point average in high school and scored 24 or higher on the ACT college entrance exam. It covers full tuition and fees and is renewable for four years, subject to recipients maintaining a 3.25 average and making satisfactory progress toward earning a degree. Leaks is a graduate of Nevada High School and is the daughter of Bobbie Madison and Willie Leaks. She plans to major in nursing at UALR. While in high school, she was selected for Who's Who Among American High School Students, won second place in a computer applications competition and an All- American Vocation Award. She was on the honor roll, the yearbook staff, the Quiz Bowl team and the track team, and she was a member of Future Business Leaders of America, Future Teachers of America, National Honor Society, the Gifted and Talented Program and the French Club.
