Independence Day saw several people lose their independence after violating the law in Nevada County.

Over the July 4 weekend, according to a release from the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, checkpoints were established at various locations throughout the county to check for sobriety.

Four motorists were cited for driving on suspended driver's licenses; three for drinking on the highway; one for carrying a weapon; another for simple possession of marijuana.

In addition, four misdemeanor warrants were served, along with two felony warrants.

The NCSO made four felony arrests, with two made on road blocks and two on search warrants.

Dedric Buckley, 25, of Arkadelphia, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Dennis Moore, 23, of Prescott, was also charged with possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The warrants served, saw Howard Coday, 38, and his wife, Maria Coday, 24, both of Rosston, charged with manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wayne Kisselburg, criminal investigator for the NCSO and Prescott Police Department, said 28 marijuana plants were found behind the Coday home, with a small amount found inside the house.
