Students who will enter grades kindergarten through the fourth at Gurdon Primary School for the first time need to come by the primary school office on Thursday, July 23, to register between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Kindergarten students must have a copy of birth certificate, immunization record, social security number and have a physical before beginning school on August 19.

Billy Freeman and the Sunlighters will be in concert at the First Church of God, Highway 67 South in Gurdon July 18.

Beirne Baptist Church will have Bible school July 20 through 24 from 9 to 11 a.m. Classes will be for pre-school through sixth grade.

Eastern Star Baptist Church in Gurdon will have a revival July 20 through 24 beginning nightly at 6:30. Rev. Raymond Clayborn of Texas will be the evangelist.

Rusty and Angela Ledbetter are proud to announce the birth of their son, Jacob Neil. He was born June 17, 1998, at Hot Spring County Memorial Hospital weighing 8 pounds and 2.9 ounces. He was 21 inches long.

Maternal grandparents are Tommy and Gail Johnson of Little Rock and Raymond and Carolyn Ray of Gurdon. Great grandparents are James and Mary McAnnaly of Curtis and Ernest and Avanell Ray of Gurdon. Great grandparents are Walter Sligh of Curtis.

Paternal grandparents are Charles and Connie Ledbetter of Gurdon. Great grandparents are Don and Corine Russell of Arkadelphia and George and Louise Ledbetter of Bismark.

Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church will be observing its annual homecoming service on Sunday, July 12. Worship hour begins at 11:00 a.m. with a fellowship dinner afterwards. The Hays Brothers from First Landmark Baptist Church will be singing during the afternoon beginning at 2:00.

The second annual inter-denominational tent revival in Gurdon will be held August 2-8. The event will start at 7 p.m. nightly. Rev. Ronald Scott, pastor of Muldrew Chapel C.M.E. church, and Rev. Berrill Gill, pastor of the Church on the Rock in Texarkana, are sponsoring the revival. For more information, contact Richard Graham at 353-4202.

Vacation Bible school continues through Friday at Curtis First Baptist Church from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be classes for nursery age through youth. The landing of this space adventure will be topped off with a commencement service at 7:30 p.m. on Friday night with fellowship to follow.

Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will be at the Gurdon Municipal Building July 16 from 8:30 to 11:30 and on July 30 from 8:00 to 4:30. For more information, you can call 353- 2514.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon.
