Philippines To Be Home For Bears

Bobby Bear and his wife, Judy, formerly of Gurdon, will be going to the Philippines as a Baptist missionary.

Bear is a graduate from Gurdon High School and is the son of Dempsey Bear (deceased) and Estell Bear.

Mrs. Bear graduated from Okolona High School and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Little (deceased).

Bear has pastored in Arkansas, North Carolina and Georgia. He served 13+ years as an interstate missionary and has organized two churches. He is sponsored by Holly Springs Missionary Baptist Church of Star City. He is co-sponsored by Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Auburn, Ga.

He will be working with Luzon Missionary Baptist Institute and Seminary near Manila.

Plans are to build a seminary facility and church complex in Bulacon near Manila. He will lead and teach in the seminary.

The couple will work on the Island of Luzon to reach the Filipino people for Christ and to help the missionary/pastors. Presently he is doing deputation among American Baptist Associational Churches. They will move in January 1999.

The Bears have four married children, three sons and a daughter, James, Jackie, John and Dana. James and Jackie serve as Baptist deacons and Dana is the wife of Robbie Ballard, a Baptist minister. They have four grandchildren.
