Encampment Starts FridayPublished Wednesday, July 29, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesThe 177th annual encampment of the Ebenezer Camp Ground near Center Point in Howard County will begin Friday, July 31, at 8 p.m. Daily services will be held at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. with afternoon services at 3 p.m. on Sunday and Wednesday. Rusty Jones, pastor of the Rowell Circuit near Rison, and Jim Polk, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Nashville, will lead the Friday through Sunday services. Rev. Dale Whitlock of New Albany, Miss., will be the evangelist for the Monday through Thursday services. Rev. Don Robinson of the Rockport Methodist Church will be the song leader and Charles Stanley will play the piano. Marjorie Copeland and the Mineral Springs Choir will provide music at the lay service on Sunday afternoon. Special music will be provided by the Dierks United Methodist Church Choir at the Sunday evening service, the Testimonies on Monday evening and by the Dierks First Baptist Church Choir on Tuesday evening. The campground is located off Highway 4, three miles North of Center Point. Services will end on Thursday, August 6. Everyone is welcome.
