Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon will have its 10th annual homecoming Sunday, August 2, at 3:00 p.m. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Special guests, Union Baptist Church, Hot Springs. Rev. Douglas Jones, pastor and speaker. Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor. There will be a special program Sunday, August 2, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Clair Baptist Church in Burtsell. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Special guest Rev. Charles Gatlin, pastor of the Center Ridge Baptist Church in Little Rock, speaker. Rev. L.B. Beard, pastor. 64th annual session of Southwest District Association Sunday school and Usher Board Congress of Christian Education will convene with Greater Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Ashdown August 3-7. Theme: "Empowering God's People for the Challenges of the 21st Century." Dr. J.R. McCollum, president. Dr. LR. Massey, vice president. Dr. W.T. Keaton, dean. Dr. C.K. Yarber, moderator. Rev. John T. Allen, host pastor. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Johnson of Madison, Wis., is here visiting their niece, Jerine Hatley, as well as other relatives in Gurdon, Prescott, Hope and surrounding areas. She also attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon, the homecoming in Shady Grove, Beirne and the Welch reunion in Little Rock. Ashley Stafford, granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Stafford of Gurdon, participated in the American Red Cross basic aid training course presented by Garland County Chapter volunteers. She demonstrated the correct way to save a choking infant.
