ADC Seeks FelonPublished Wednesday, August 5, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneA felon convicted in Nevada County is now on the loose in Saline County. Joey L. Johnson, 30, had been serving a 10-year sentence for theft from Nevada County. He was being housed at the Arkansas Department of Corrections, and being used on a work-release program at an auto dealership in Benton. However, officers in central Arkansas were called out during the weekend after he reportedly walked off the job and disappeared. Johnson was last seen around 7 p.m. Saturday, according to Dina Tyler, spokesman for the ADC. But, when the prison van arrived around 7:30 p.m. to pick him up and take him back to the work-release center, Johnson was missing. According to Nevada County Sheriff's authorities, Johnson had been convicted of auto theft in this county and was serving the 10-year sentence for it. He is described as being about 5-6 and weighing 120 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes. Johnson was last seen wearing blue jeans, a grayish-brown cotton shirt and black shoes, Tyler said.
