s E. 'Mutt' WaltersPublished Wednesday, August 12, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesJames E. 'Mutt' Walters, 85, of Hope died Tuesday, August 4, 1998, at Medical Park Hospital in Hope. Born December 17, 1912, in Gurdon to James E. and Mamie Forcht Walters, he was a retired bread salesman for Meyer's and Butternut, having worked all over Hempstead County. He was a member of First Christian Church in Hope. He was a Mason, member of Whitfield Masonic Lodge 239, F&AM, and he was a 32nd Degree Mason. Mr. Walters was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, who served in the Pacific. Survivors include wife, Alice Walters of Hope; two sons, Jim Walters of Garland, Texas, and Bill Walters of Arkadelphia; one daughter, Beverly Walters of Arkadelphia; and one sister, Dorothy Martin of Shreveport, La. Funeral services were held Thursday, August 6, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Les Patterson officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope.
