Revival services are in session this week at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church near Arkadelphia. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Evangelist for the week is Rev. H.B. Montgomery, former pastor of Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, but now pastor of Fellowship Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas. Services are 7:00 nightly. Rev. Gregory Marshall, pastor. Back to school revival is in session this week at First Memorial Church of God in Christ in Gurdon. Services are 7:30 nightly. Everyone is welcome. Evangelists for the week are Elder Timothy Hopson and Elder Michael Walker of New Calvary Temple COGIC of North Little Rock. Elder Paul Williams, host pastor. Revival services will be August 17-21 at Mt. Friendship Baptist Church in Curtis. Services begin nightly at 7:00. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Evangelist for the week is Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Gurdon. Rev. Louis Jones, pastor. Sunday, August 23, will be the annual choir day at New Zion Baptist Church in Lockesburg. The event will start at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Special guests include New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon and Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor and speaker. Rev. R. Briggs, pastor. August 28-30 will be the section one meeting and the fifth Sunday singing of the Southwest District Association to convene with the Gennesart Baptist Church of Arkadelphia. Rev. Charles Hood, host pastor. Third Sunday night fellowship singing is to convene Sunday, August 16, at 6:30 at Eastern Star Baptist Church in Smithton. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Rev. Marshall Allen, pastor. Dedication services for Bethel Independent will be held Sunday, August 16, at 2:30 p.m. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Special guests include Mt. Canaan Baptist Church of Gurdon, Rev. Johnny C. Harris, pastor and speaker. Rev. Daniel Flemons, pastor. Floyd and Margree Gatlin celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Thursday, August 6, at 5:30 p.m. in their home. Their daughter, Mary Ann Anderson, was the hostess for the affair. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Jim Hatley Jr.; Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Russey; Mr. and Mrs. O'Dray Anderson; Dorothy Gulley; Gloria Marks and Don; Marcell Anderson; Andri Anderson; Laura Grigsby; Mattie Anderson; Mary Ann Anderson; and Jerine Hatley. Gifts were received from her sons and daughters, who were unable to attend. Calvin and Tammy Brown, son Kevin Brown and daughter Tanya Brown visited relatives and friends last week in Gurdon. They are from Denver, Colo. Annie Moreland, Marylon Welch, Bobbie Franklin, Raymond Welch, Bobby Dixon and Brenda Barr Williams, all of Rockford, Ill., visited their parents, Joe and Hazel Welch, other relatives and friends of Gurdon. Mrs. Moreland also visited her father, R. L. Ross, of Gurdon. They have returned home. Homecoming will be September 27 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Clair Missionary Baptist Church in Burtsell. Rev. L. B. Hatley and churches, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Antoine, Harrison Chapel Baptist Church of Delight, First Baptist Church of Okolona, Shady Grove Baptist Church of Beirne, New Mt. Mrs. Johnnie Lee Allen of Gurdon has returned home after spending her vacation with her son, Elder Ray Thomas, of Chicago, Ill. She had a wonderful time.
