RosstonPublished Wednesday, August 12, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams There has been three operations, a death and a number of doctor visits in Rosston since I wrote last. Roscoe went into Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock July 19 and had an aneurism repair and a gallbladder removed on the 20th. He had a couple of complications after surgery and we had to stay 11 days. The acid reflux is about cleared up and last Monday Jimmy and I took him to doctor Witt (an ear specialist) in Texarkana. After getting his ears washed out the low grade temperature cleared up. Hopefully, we are on the road to recovery, but it is very slow. He lost 20 pounds, but is beginning to taste and want food. We still need your prayers as he still has a way to go. Jackie Cross's mother, Mrs. Hennard, who had recently moved from Dias, to Hillcrest Care and Rehab in Prescott had a stroke and passed away. She was taken back there for the funeral and burial. Please remember Jackie and her family in your prayers. Henry Dixon had lung surgery at St. Michael in Texarkana and Chris Kenzel also had lung surgery in St. Michael while we were gone. They are both home and doing well as can be expected. Johnnie Walraven went to St. Michael Monday for an arterigram and possible surgery later. Remember his family also. A.B. Luck went to one of his doctors in Little Rock while we were there. He was dismissed for a year. Maxine went to an eye doctor in Little Rock and is to go to another eye doctor there this week. A.B. will also go to his heart doctor this week in Little Rock. Dail Evans went back to his doctor in Texarkana this past week. He learned that he is a diabetic and has a place on his leg caused from being burned at Berry Petroleum 50 years ago. He was badly burned the year Roscoe and I married. Please remember him in your prayers. Lisa Williams of Hattiesburg, Miss., called me a few weeks ago and informed me that she had received her doctorate at the University of Mississippi. Sorry, Lisa, I lost the note but found it recently. We are so proud of her as she has been going to school a long time. Our last grandchild, Marty, was married to Reagan Huett Saturday afternoon at Central Baptist Church in Prescott. It was a beautiful wedding. Bro. Tom Mitchell, the former pastor, now of Chenal Valley in North Little Rock performed the beautiful ceremony. Roscoe was able to attend, but has been pretty well knocked out today (Sunday). I attended the rehearsal dinner in the fellowship hall on Friday night. The food was great, thanks to Maude McKinnon, who did the catering. The minister of music rendered the beautiful specials at the wedding. Thanks to Marty's and Reagan's mothers, Becky Huett and Brenda Vandever, for all the beautiful decorations and also others who helped them. Next Sunday, August 16, will be the annual homecoming at Rosston with lunch in the fellowship hall. Singing will be in the afternoon. Several special guests will be there to sing, so bring your special and please come. Bro. Petie, our pastor, will bring the morning message. Roscoe and I would like to thank everyone who came to be with us the day of the surgery and the remaining days we were in the hospital. We could not have made it without our children and my brother and wife of Hope who stayed with me while he was in intensive care for four days. Thanks for all the visits, beautiful flowers, gifts and goodies and for all the the good food that has been brought to our home since we got back. Everyone has tried to get some fat on him which he terribly needs. Most of all, thanks to Valeria O'Keefe and Cindy Taylor for keeping my flowers watered in the 100-degree heat.
