BodcawAline ClausPublished Wednesday, August 12, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune I hear some of you got rain. We are still dry. We enjoyed the cooler weather anyway. A lot of things have happened since I wrote last. Earlene Butler suffered a fall. She broke her leg then while she was in the hospital she had a heart attack. She has improved and is in Health South Rehab. Doris Shewbirt had to go back to the hospital after her heart surgery. Her heart was beating too fast. Mrs. Nettie Bowman was able to be in both services Sunday. It was good to see her out. Nancy Burke of Prescott visited her mother, Maxine Brown, and sister, Peggy Russell, last Tuesday. J.D. Allen had surgery in Little Rock Baptist Hospital on Friday. He seems to be doing fine. Marie Tye visited Linda and Labe Haynie on Friday and Saturday. Bodcaw II had a one day Bible school on August 1. We were blessed to have 77 students and 38 workers. Thanks to all for the hard work. It was a great success. The family of Jimmy and Sadie Rhodes Daniels met for a reunion at Corinth fellowship hall on Saturday with about 50 present. A good time was had by all. A cousin who they hadn't seen for 60 years was there. He was the son of Jewel Daniels, Eddie Joe of Dallas. Corinth ladies are preparing for their Bible school, which will be the last Saturday of this month. Norma Jan Ratcliff had surgery in Little Rock last week and is doing fair. We had a baptizing on Sunday morning and evening. We baptized Stormy Dorman and Beth and Brint Thomas. Joe Bob Dorman and family and many others were present. Maudie Miller had a gathering on Saturday. Terry and Carolyn Fairchild and Mike Fairchild and two boys from the Dallas area, Clifton Almand of Waldo, Mable Walden and daughter, Linda, of Hope, the Campbells and Sherry Kay and Josh Lane from Greenwood. Bodcaw Baptist Church II baptized Jeremy Kretz on Sunday night. Deena was able to attend and to stand with him. She just returned home from the hospital in Little Rock. It was a time of rejoicing for them. Sherry Kay and Josh stayed for this service. On Thursday, August 6, Bro. Ray and Nettie bowman had as guest, her three sisters, Peggy and Finis Burns of Ruston; Janice and Howard Fischvaught of Little Rock and Carolyn and Charles Warren of Buckner. Lindsey Curtis was in church with Marilyn Carlton. I have heard good reports of the Crossroad Seafood restaurant. It is good to have an eating place in this area. Jamie Allen also has a broken leg. It was good to have Floyd Poindexter, Etta Sanders and Victoria McMillian in church. They don't get to come often because of ill health.
