College NewsPublished Wednesday, August 19, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneDebra L. Magness, a 1998 graduate of Nevada High School, was awarded an Alumax Scholarship to Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. The scholarship has one year value of over $1,800. Magness plans to major in business. She is the daughter of Richard and Elizabeth Magness of Rosston. Charlotte Jean McCauley of Prescott received her master's degree in education August 7 at Southern Arkansas University (SAU). The degree was in gifted and talented. Jeffrey Lee Milam of Prescott also graduated August 7 with a B.S. degree in agricultural education. August graduates as SAU include the following: Rosston students graduating from SAU August 7 were Gavin Kirk Barnett, with a B.S. in psychology; Kimberly Ann Mason, with a B.S.E. in elementary education; and Amanda Deann Stone, with a B.B.A in business administration. SAU conferred degrees to 88 students. Of these graduates, six graduated with honors. Students attaining a grade point average (GPA) of 3.5-3.74 graduated cum laude, students who earned a GPA of 3.75-3.89 graduated magna cum laude and students who earned a GPA of 3.9- 4.00 graduated summa cum laude, the highest honor bestowed.
