RosstonPublished Wednesday, August 19, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMarguerite Williams We celebrated the 83rd homecoming at Rosston Baptist Church Sunday. We had a very inspiring message by our pastor, Bro. Petie Ward. We had a wonderful crowd of visitors and the prettiest and most food I believe I've ever seen at Rosston. I, personally would like to thank all our ladies who prepared the food. They always go the second mile when we're in need. Visitors for church and the noon meal were Pete and Anna Rhodes of Little Rock, Ray and Marge Rhodes and Louie and Tootsie Rhodes of Shreveport, Ross McKissack of Hope, Paul Braussard of Rosston, Terry (Morman) McDunkins and son Brad of Nashville, Melva Morman of Prescott, Robert, Wendy and Jennifer Bailey of Rosston, a friend of Brittany Bailey, a friend of Chasity Reeves and a friend of Kerri Gibson, Max Allen, Wendy and Mark Morman of Rosston. I'm sure there are others I have missed. I can't begin to name visitors for the singing in the afternoon, but our special guests to sing were our cousin, Angel O'Hara of Camden, Bro. Ray Bowman, pastor of Bodcaw Church, Lyn Dean and Amy Morman, Misti Gibson and Amy Morman, Rusty Carlton of Bodcaw and Jeff and Tara Carlton of Rosston. We have a choir of our young people conducted by Chasity Reeves. They sang in both the morning and afternoon services. If you missed coming to Rosston Baptist Church this past Sunday you missed a blessing. Our son, Jimmy Williams, and I took Roscoe to his doctor in Little Rock on Tuesday. He got a good report and thanks to many answered prayers he was able to be in church Sunday. Lewis Jackson and Henry Dixon, who have both had surgery recently, were not able to be in church Sunday. Johnnie Walraven had surgery on his heart this week and is home, but not feeling very well. Ronnie Clark (Sherry Dillard's husband) has chemical pneumonia and was take from the Hope hospital to St. Michael's in Texarkana Sunday. Dail Evans is still going to his doctor in Hope twice a week to get his leg dressed. It seems to be better, but he still needs our prayers as well as the rest of the sick. Brad Hart of McAllen, Texas, called to ask about Roscoe; he still improving. Valeria O'Keefe, Christi Taylor, Katie Magness and I attended the Watermelon Festival in Hope on Friday afternoon Bill and Pat Lusby of Camden brought fish on last Tuesday night and had supper with us. Brandon and Ginger McKinnon of Texarkana were our supper guests on Saturday night. They are lonesome as son, Tyler, is spending two weeks in Midland, Texas, with Meme and Papa Carl Vandever. Jimmy and Booie Williams were our guests on Friday night. Our son, Dwight, of Texarkana spent two days this past week mowing and Bush Hogging for us. We have really appreciated our family helping us and since Roscoe has been ill. Mrs. Nellie Ann Bowman is still improving. She is able to attend church. Dail and Marjorie Evans had a call from a friend up north and he had read the Picayune on the Internet. It seems that our local news has gotten to be worldwide. Wouldn't it be great if the word of God was worldwide. Maybe it soon will be. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
