Loe Tabbed As DelegatePublished Wednesday, August 19, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneOlen E. Loe of Bluff City will serve as a delegate to the 11th Silver Haired Legislative Session (SHLS) at the state Capitol on August 26. Ninety-nine senior delegates from throughout Arkansas will meet in the House of Representatives for the one-day mock legislative session. They will debate and vote on bills addressing issues identified by SHLS delegates as critical to the well-being of elderly Arkansans. Committees will consider legislation regarding health care costs, aging services, consumer concerns and revenue and taxation. Through participation in the SHLS, the delegates will help focus the attention of Arkansas lawmakers and the general public on these important issues. The SHLS is sponsored by the Arkansas Division of Aging and Adult Services of the Department of Human Services and the eight Arkansas Area Agencies on Aging. The SHLS was authorized in 1977 by a resolution of the General Assembly sponsored by representatives B.B. Hendrix and the late W.F. (Bill) Foster. Arkansas is one of 26 states that conducts Silver Haired sessions in order to give older citizens an opportunity to make their voices heard.
