Revival service is in session this week at Mt. Friendship Baptist Church in Curtis. Everyone and all churches are welcome. Services begin nightly at 7:00. Evangelist for the week is Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor of New Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Gurdon. Rev. Louis Jones, pastor.

Sunday, August 23, will be annual choir day at New Zion Baptist Church in Lockesburg. The event will start at 3:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Special guests will include New Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Gurdon and Rev. Quintin Radford, pastor and speaker. Rev. R. Briggs, pastor.

Vernessia Russy has a birthday on August 19.

August 28-30 will be Section One meeting and fifth Sunday singing of the Southwest District Baptist Association to convene with the Gennesaret Baptist Church of Arkadelphia. Rev. Charles Hood, host pastor.

Annual homecoming will be Sunday, September 27, at 2:30 p.m. at St. Clair Baptist Church in Burtsell. Rev. L.B. Beard, pastor. Special guests include Rev. Rufus R. Hatley, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church of Antoine Harrison Chapel Baptist Church of Delight, First Baptist Church of Okolona, Shady Grove Baptist Church of Beirne, New Mt. Zion of Gurdon, Macedonia of Boughton and Union Grove of Bluff City. Everyone is welcome.

Laura and Lonnie Davis, Rodney and Jackie Hayes, Vincent Hayes, Gina and Theodore Morgan, little Theodore Morgan of Chicago, Ill., Zandra Blevins of Memphis, Tenn., Loretta Roberts, Shanta Roberts, Eric Roberts, Donique Roberts, Isiah Roberts, Angela Roberts and Quentin Reed of Detroit, Mich., visited their parents and grandparents, Joe and Hazel Welch. Cousins Mary Bell, Dianna and Rufus Hatley, Laura Grigsby and Jerine Hatley also visited other family members in Louisiana, Gurdon, Burtsell, Okolona, Hot Springs, Gum Springs and Arkadelphia.

Ellen Wiley of Texas and Clementine Wiley of Chicago and granddaughter are here visiting their sisters, Ola Mae Bailey of Okolona, Monteen and Gilbert Davis of Gurdon, and Veodis Cook of Malvern and other relatives and friends in the surrounding area. Clementine visited her classmates, Margaret and Winifred Burton, as well as Ned Welch and Jerine Hatley of Gurdon.

Doretha Halton of Little Rock, daughter of Johnnie Allen of Gurdon, has returned home after spending her vacation in Los Angeles, Calif.

Rev. and Mrs. Johnny C. Harris and Mt. Canaan Choir of Gurdon, were the special guests in Spearville, La., at the homecoming of the Hertz family reunion. They were the special guests (and choir) of Herman and Eula Quarles .

Mack and Wanda Crow have returned home after visiting their daughter, Darlene, her husband and their family in Virginia. They also attended their family reunion in Las Vegas. Machel and Debra Crow also flew to Las Vegas for the family reunion. A wonderful time was reported by all.

On August 8 at Our Lady Guadalupe Catholic Church in New Orleans, La., Mrs. Eva Juniel attended the wedding of her grandson, Benjamin David Lawson, and Selika Marianne Duckworth. Mrs. Juniel was accompanied by her sons, Walter Juniel Jr. of Los Angeles and Willie Lawrence Juniel and his family of Shreveport, La.

Walter Juniel Jr. visited his mother, Eva Juniel. He also attended New Mt. Zion Baptist Church on Sunday. He has returned home.

Simon Stovall of Okolona passed away Saturday, August 15. Funeral service details are incomplete at this report.

Rev. Clea and Mrs. Queen Ester Hawthorne of Chicago visited their friends, Winifred and Margaret Burton, of Gurdon. They also attended Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Delight and Eastern Star Baptist Church in Smithton. They returned home and had a wonderful vacation.
