Merritts To Celebrate Golden Anniversary At Stephens ChurchPublished Wednesday, August 26, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. and Mrs. Clifton Merritt will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 6, with a reception at Silver Springs Methodist Church, Highway 57 North, Stephens. They were married on September 4, 1948, at Fairview United Methodist Church in Camden by the late Manuel E. Scott, pastor of the church. Mrs. Merritt is the former Mollie Vene Rogers of Stephens. She retired in 1993 after 27 years with Safeway and Harvest Foods. Mr. Merritt has been employed 50 years in the petroleum industry and is currently a partner in C&R Productions. The reception is hosted by their daughter and son-in-law, Suanne and Dick Jeffus of Fayetteville, their grandson and his wife, Josh and Angela Jeffus of Monroe, La., and their granddaughter, Keely Jeffus, of Fayetteville. All friends and family are invited to attend. No invitations were sent locally. The presence of their friends and family is the only gift desired.
