Another week and its still hot, but the weather man keeps promising cooler days, so all we do is hope.

Corina, Sarah and Shelbi Booker and Sophie and Randy Taylor spent the weekend in Dallas with their daughter and sister, Cathy Smart, and her family.

Neil and I spent Monday with his sister, Jerri Davis, in Stephens, celebrating her birthday.

Since Sunday was youth Sunday, Shady Grove Baptist Church was honored to have a young preacher, T.J. Johnson, and we thoroughly enjoyed the music by Russ Carlton.

Kristi Neal honored her husband, Darren, with a birthday cookout Saturday night at the family deer camp. Those attending were Jerry, Rhonda, Justin and Cole Hillery, Chanda, Jeff, Corey and Lane Martin, Billie Ridling, Al and Peggy Butrick from Summit, Miss., Terri and Ronnie Vandiver, Kim and Shelbi Cottingham, Haley Harris and Scott and Crissy Clark from Hope. All enjoyed burgers, birthday cake and homemade ice cream.

John, Gina, Erica and Ryan Burdue spent last weekend with Tom and June Slocum in Alexander, La.

Billie Gas from Chickasha, Okla., is visiting her mother, Allene Taylor.

Billy and Shari Inscore, along with Carla Henderson, has just returned from a vacation cruise to Cancun and Lozumel, Mexico.

Congratulations to Jim and Leona Ballard for their 50 years of marriage. They celebrated with a beautiful and well attended party on Saturday night, given by their children in the Shady Grove Baptist Church fellowship hall.

Thought: Worry is like rocking in a chair. It gives you something to do, but gets you no where.
