Golden OldiesDoris VancePublished Wednesday, September 2, 1998 in the Gurdon Times The Gurdon Senior Adult Center Kitchen Band practiced on August 27. Not all were present, because some were gone for tests and for other reasons. August 28 Cindy Rhodes, activity director, asked some trivia questions. On some of the questions, our brains really had to be in good working order. Ellis and Beatrice Stafford left early Tuesday morning to attend the CADC National Convention in Miami, Fla. Mr. Stafford has been a director for CADC for 28 years. Jackie Rhodes was at the center on Monday to teach crafts to the senior adults. Many of our senior adults have been on the sick list, either having tests or surgery. Nadine and Bill Logan are unable to attend regularly because of sickness, Gladys Sherman, Loy Garner, Neil Horne, Geneva Everett and Sybil Harris are some of the other sick. If I have left anyone out, please let me know. We welcome Billie Jean Miller, who is back from her trip to Hawaii. Beatrice Stafford is responsible for the decorations on the birthday window for September. We would like to thank our many volunteers who see the need and step in the gap. They are a very important part of the center. We appreciate everyone of them. We also would like to say that we appreciate the staff of the center very much. This has been a terribly hot summer, but we are having good attendance. The center is a very important part of our city and also the surrounding communities. Hot meals are taken each day to those who are unable to be out and there are so many who can't get out anymore. The shut-ins look forward to the hot meal each day. We would again like to thank Mr. and Mrs. Ragsdale for printing this article in the paper each week. It is the only way that those who used to attend can keep up with the news of the center. The center will be closed Monday, September 7, for Labor Day. The center is a United way Agency. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
