Allen missed Jeff Rhodes on first down and was sacked to the 48 on second down. On third down, Allen found Meeks, who took the ball to the eight. Hopson took the pitch in for the touchdown, with Griffin again putting the finishing touch on the scoring drive to make it 28-0 with 6:08 left. Fouke ran its final four plays of the game, turning the ball over on downs with 4:18 showing. Gurdon's second offense went in and ran out the clock. The second string Devils also moved the ball fairly effectively, going from their own 40 to the Panther 27 before time ran out. The Devil passing attack could use a bit of improvement as Allen was three of 10 for 54 yards, but was picked off twice. Fouke's quarterbacks were three of eight for 13 yards and had an interception as well. On the ground there was no contest, Gurdon's potent rushing attack netted 265 yards on 44 carries for a 6.0 yard average. Fouke's rushing attack had 82 yards on 34 carries, averaging 2.4 yards each time they rushed. The Devils won the stat for total yardage at 319 to 95. Fouke punted four times for 128 yards, with one returned for 33. This left a net of 95 yards. Gurdon booted the ball twice for 71 yards with no returns. Neither team protected the ball well as the Devils put it on the ground four times, losing it once, while Fouke fumbled three times and lost two. Combined with the interceptions, both teams turned the ball over three times. Gurdon dominated in first downs, 16-6, and sacked Fouke's quarterback twice, while Allen was only caught once. The Devil ground assault was led by Hatley, who carried eight times for 98 yards and scored twice. Charles was the workhorse as he toted the mail 17 times for 81 yards and had a 37 yard touchdown run called back because of penalty. Hopson carried five times for 42 yards and pair of touchdowns, while Allen rushed five times for a net of eight yards. Oliver Webster, coming in late in the game, carried five times for 23 yards, while Joe Plyler rushed twice for 10 yards. Meeks had one carry for three yards. The Devils will have a long road trip this Friday, as they travel close to the Mississippi border to tangle with the Lake Village Beavers on the banks of Lake Chicot.
