In a special called meeting, the Nevada School Board approved a working budget for the 1998-99 school year.

This year's budget will be $2,827,645, having been cut across the board by 6 percent from last year. The cuts represent a loss of $97,293.

In other business conducted at the Thursday, Sept. 10 meeting, the board approved a tuition agreement with Emmet for nine students.

The board also agreed to have an auction Saturday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m. to sell surplus items. These items include three buses now out of service, but in running condition.

Nevada County Judge James Roy Brown is also expected to have items in the auction from the county as well.

Nevada Superintendent Rick McAffee told the board auctions of this type aren't uncommon and the district has one about every other year.
