118 Year Anniversary To Be Celebrated At Hollywood BaptistPublished Wednesday, October 13, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesHollywood Baptist Church will celebrate 118 years of service to the community October 17. The church was organized on October 15, 1881, with nine members. Over the years the church has had about 50 ministers. Rev. Charlie Williams, pastor of Center Point Baptist Church near Gurdon will preach at the 11:00 a.m. service. Bro. Williams grew up in the Hollywood community and attended church at Hollywood. The Hawkins Family from Hot Springs will sing in the 11:00 a.m. service and they will have a singing at 1:30 p.m. The Hawkins Family, remembered and loved by two generations of Arkansas folks for their appearances at revivals, benefits, concerts, conventions, homecomings and county fairs continue to share the true meaning of the cross and the joys of a Christian life. They are life-time residents of Hot Springs and have been traveling and singing the gospel for more than 40 years. Dinner on the grounds will follow the morning service. Everyone is welcome.
