Leadership Conference Held In Hot SpringsPublished Wednesday, September 23, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesClark County young farmers and ranchers Bill and Mary McDowell were among the 155 young farmers and ranchers attending the annual Arkansas Farm Bureau Young Farmer and Rancher Summer Leadership Conference August 7 and 8 in Hot Springs. The conference featured several speakers, including Joe Troian of Conway, 1997 Young Farmer and Rancher discussion winner; Kevin Hoke of Jonesboro, 1997 Young Farmer and Rancher achievement contest winner; and Andrew Whisenhunt, president, Arkansas Farm Bureau Federation. Workshops on crops, livestock and women's activities featured speakers on environmental changes facing agriculture; risk management; safety progress; managing ranch resources; and a situation and outlook for livestock and crops.
