Here and TherePublished Wednesday, September 23, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneAlcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991. A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott in the Social Security room in the courthouse on Thursday, September 24, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213. The Nevada County Rescue Unit will have a dedication ceremony on Thursday, September 24, at the Nevada County Rescue Unit new building. It will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. This ceremony will be to dedicate the building in memory of Charles Ray Cross. The program will start at 9:00. Refreshments will be served. The Prescott School District will hold its annual public meeting Tuesday, September 29, in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m. The superintendent and each school principal will speak regarding the district and each school. The Emmet Vision Association will hold a flea market October 3 from 8 a.m. till 6 p.m. at the Emmet Chuck Wagon by the old bowling alley and new park. There will be a concession stand and a bake sale. Call Jewel at 887-3285, Kathy at 887-2081 or Dorothy at 887-3422 for more information. All proceeds go toward Emmet's Christmas street light decorations as well as other community development. A Rhodes family reunion will be held Saturday, September 26, at the Cale Community Center. A potluck lunch will be served at noon. A business meeting of the Friendship Cemetery will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Anyone with family members in the cemetery are encouraged to be present. Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Prescott will be giving its associate pastor and his wife, Rev. M.L and Marilyn Manning, an appreciation program Sunday, September 27, at 3 p.m. The guest speaker will be Sis.
