Dorman, Thomas Exchange Vows July 11Published Wednesday, September 23, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneMiss Bethany Irene Dorman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Dorman, of Bodcaw and Mr. Brent Michael Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Thomas, of Haughton, La., were married July 11, at Unity Baptist Church in Hope. The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Rogers of Magnolia, Mr. John Goodwin of Wickes, and Mrs. Curtis G. Dorman and the late Mr. Curtis G. Dorman of Bodcaw. The groom is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. T.P. Thomas of Smackover. Bro. Tom Stevens of Stamps performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with candelabras, ferns and fresh arrangements. The bride, escorted by her father to the song Joyful, Joyful, We Adore You, wore a princess-styled dress, featuring a sweetheart neckline and Basque waist. The long fitted sleeves were topped with pearl studded lattice work. The keyhole back was graced with strands of simulated pearls. Re-embroidered lace with sequins and pearls decorated the bodice, sleeves and back of the train. Lace and sequins traced the scalloped edge of the skirt and train. The shoulder length veil featured a rolled hem and a band accented with ribbon roses and pearls. The bride carried a cascade bouquet, featuring gardenias, calla lilies, and Stephanotis. A pearl- inlayed Bible belonging the groom's great grandmother was the focal point of the bouquet. The bride also carried a blue silk handkerchief belonging to her great grandmother. The bride wore a pair of pearl earrings, a gift from the groom, a pair of pearl earrings her mother wore, and an add-a-pearl necklace her grandmother had started on her first birthday. Before the ceremony, Mrs. Dorman was escorted to her pew by her sons, John and Joe Dorman. Mrs. Thomas was escorted by her son, the groom. The family pews were decorated with hearts, angels and Magnolia. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore burgundy shantung floor length dresses, featuring an empire bodice. The maid of honor was Gretchan Carlton. The bridesmaids were Melissa Britt, cousin of the bride, Stacy Chreene, and Staci Thomas, sister of the groom. The junior bridesmaids were Stormy and Casisty Dorman, nieces of the bride. Their dresses of floral burgundy and hunter green shantung were fashioned similar to the bridesmaids. The bridesmaids carried cascade bouquets of gardenias and burgundy roses. The junior maids carried small nosegays of burgundy and white miniature roses. The flower girl was Amanda Dorman, niece of the bride. She wore a full, short white dress embellished with lace and pearls. She carried a basket of white net trimmed with burgundy and white ribbons. Mike Thomas, father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were David Chreene, Kevin Thomas, cousin of the groom, and Robby Thomas. Jacob Dorman, nephew of the bride served as the ring bearer. The groom and his attendants wore black shawl collared tuxedos, with burgundy vests. The groom's vest was white. The groom's boutonniere was a white rose with Stephanotis and the male attendants wore burgundy rose boutonnieres. Mr. Don Parks, cousin of the groom, accompanied by his wife, Mrs. Sandi Parks, sang Household of Faith and Love will Be Our Home. As the couple lit the unity candle, Mr. Parks sang Parent's Prayer. The ushers were John Dorman and Joe Dorman, brothers of the bride, and Kevin Thomas, cousin of the groom. Kimberly and Alisha Dorman, cousins of the bride, were the attendants for the bride's book. Danielle Dorman, aunt of the bride, served as the wedding director. The focal point of the bride's table was a four-tier wedding cake decorated with fresh gardenias. This was cut and served by Leslie Ward and Misty Townsends, cousins of the bride. The punch was served by Anna Holland, cousin of the bride. A chocolate cake decorated like an oval NASCAR track was the center point of the groom's table. Mrs. Velma Smith and Mrs. Sue Williams, aunts of the groom, served at this table. Servers at the buffet table, centered by a large fruit drape and cascading fountains, were Kris and Karen Dorman, sisters-in-law of the bride, and Debbie wood and Johnnie Pevytoe, aunts of the bride. Camouflaged bird seed bags, bubble bottles and bird seed roses were passed out by Ryan Dorman, Ashley Smith and Natalie Smith. After a honeymoon trip to Nashville, Tenn., and Atlanta, Ga., the couple will be at home in Blanchard, La. The bride is the emergency room supervisor for North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian, La. The groom is a salesman for Moore Goodyear in Shreveport, La. Parties, Showers The groom's parents hosted a rehearsal dinner for the wedding party on July 10 in the fellowship hall of the church. A delicious barbecue dinner was enjoyed by all. Brent and Beth chose this time to present the wedding party with their gifts. A miscellaneous wedding shower for the couple was given at North Caddo Medical Center in Vivian, La. Another miscellaneous shower was given by the ladies of Bodcaw #1 Baptist Church on June 6.
