BoughtonMrs. Willie HooksPublished Wednesday, September 23, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune The annual House-Cagle and Rachel Brown family reunion was held Sunday, September 20, at the VFW building in Prescott. Approximately 140 attended this reunion. Floyed House acted as emcee of the group, recognizing each family represented. Six of grandma's children were represented, four from the Lend Love family, two of the Jack Cagle family, ten of the Nannie Kirkpatrick family, 35 of the Joe House family, 47 of the Tennie Ridgell family, five of the Wendy House family, three of the Rachel Brown family and a host of friends were all present for the occasion. Patsy Shankles led the group in singing Amazing Grace. Joel Ridgell gave the invocation at the noon hour. Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch and a day of fellowship. The plan is to meet again next year, the third Sunday in September, at the same place, VFW building in Prescott. Approximately 65 of the House-Cagle reunion met at the home of Pet and Cathryn Jester and Jimmy Joe Saturday night for an ice cream supper. Delores Thomas of New Bransfield, Texas, spent the week visiting aunts, uncles and cousins on Thursday. Delores and Herbie Ridgell visited Lynn and Judy Mayes of Booneville. Clarice (Lucas) McGowin of Ft. Myers, Fla., visited J.D. and Mary Ann Lucas Tuesday. Doris Ridgell was honored with a birthday dinner Thursday. All of her children, Kay Wren, Baletta Crabtree, Herbie and Paul Ridgell, Paul's wife Robin, several of her grandchildren, Jan and Pam McAllester, Dodie Ridling, Meme Dickerson, Mary Perkins and Delores Thomas, enjoyed this occasion. Mae Blount and Sandie Almond recently visited Bobby and Gwen of Camden and attended an art show in El Dorado. Mae Blount and grandson T.J. Glass visited Bennie Blount and family of Texarkana Tuesday. Peggy and Marshall Roper spent the weekend with Katie Pittman and Sue Austin. Kindness is a language the dumb can speak, the deaf can hear and understand.
