Hatley Is Nominated For QueenPublished Wednesday, October 13, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesMonica Hatley, a graduate of Gurdon High School, is one of 34 candidates who have been nominated for homecoming queen for Henderson State University. This year's theme is Homecoming 1999: Welcome to Henderson.' Sponsored by senior football player Anthony Wright, Hatley is a senior mass/media communications major. She is the daughter of Charles and Edna Hatley. The candidates will be presented on Thursday, October 14, at 7 p.m. in the Heart and Key homecoming ceremony at the Wells Center. The top 10 candidates will be named at the bonfire and pep rally immediately following the presentation ceremony. Final voting on the 10 finalists will take place on Friday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Homecoming ceremonies at Carpenter-Haygood Stadium will begin at 1:20 p.m. Saturday.
