180 Students And Teachers Attend Reunion

Published Wednesday, September 30, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune

Emmet School held a reunion September 12 at Western Sizzlin in Hope. The group met at 3:00 p.m. and reminisced about old times until 5:00. Then they were served a delicious meal.

There were 180 school students and some teachers attended.

As in the 1940's and 1950's Emmet was made up of Dougan cousins by the dozens. At one time 61% in Emmet were named Dougan. They were well represented on Saturday night.

There was much respect and love shared by all friends and relatives. Each person was asked to stand and introduce themselves, telling a little about their families, including their grandchildren and great grandchildren.

There were doctors, lawyers, school teachers, homemakers, writers, store owners, clerks, telephone operators, publishers, nurses, RN's, LPN's and CAN's.

It was sad to have so many missing, because of death. But we know we came to live and everyone of us will die.

Everyone who ever attended Emmet School should be looking forward to next year, when there will be another reunion. There will be lots of fun, eating and knowledge learned for just being at the reunion.
