Two people were injured in three separate vehicle accidents Thursday, Aug. 26.

The day began at 8:15 a.m. with a wreck on Highway 67 when a 1978 Buick driven by Willie Harris, 67, of Prescott, had pulled over on the shoulder of the road to make a U turn.

After the trucks carrying wide loads had passed, Harris began to make the turn. However, behind the semis was a 1992 Mercury Topaz driven by Donna Wilson, 44, of Emmet.

Harris's vehicle struck Wilson's car in the left side. Harris was able to get his Buick stopped on the shoulder of the road, while the Harris car traveled 68 feet before coming to rest in a ditch

Neither driver was hurt in the accident. Harris, though, was given a ticked for careless driving, by Arkansas State Police Trooper Bobby Carlton, who worked all three wrecks.

The second accident occurred at 9:15 a.m. on Highway 4 a mile west of Rosston.

According to reports, Barbara Heard, 38, of Rosston, was driving east on Highway 4 when her 1993 Buick ran onto the shoulder of the road.

Heard steered hard to the left, causing her car to spin and slide across the road for 150 feet. The vehicle hit a dirt embankment with the rear of the car spinning into a tree.

Heard was then taken to a Camden hospital for treatment.

Accident number three occurred at exit 46 on Interstate 30 west.

Reports state a 1997 Ford, driven by Bette Baker, 68, of Arkadelphia, was heading west on I-30 when the truck eased onto the left shoulder of the interstate.

She overcompensated, steering hard to the right, causing the truck to slide across the interstate and flip over twice before coming to rest.

Baker was taken to Medical Park Hospital by the Nevada County Ambulance Service.
