'If you want to feel right just count your blessings' was the Red Springs Extension Homemakers eye opener at the September 17 meeting hosted by Elizabeth Wilson. The club felt rich with honors received during the county fair.

Valerie Swayze, representing the club, took top honor in the fair queen contest. She was selected to be Clark County fair queen and will represent the county in the fair queen contest at the Southwest District Fair in Hope.

Morgan Watson took first runner-up honors in the Little Miss contest.

Mattie Talley, Joyce Rutherford and Kathryn Burchfield set up the fair exhibit using the theme 'Smiles through Turbans.' Steps were given in sewing turbans for cancer patients, which received sweepstakes award. The exhibit will be on display at the Southwest District Fair.

'Take Time to Listen to What Your Children Have to Say' was the devotion given by Elizabeth Wilson. She reported on the march and prayer at the flag pole conducted at the beginning of the school year.

Jean Toland presided over the business session. A discussion on fair improvements was given. A nice display for Afghans was voted on to be constructed for the next fair year.

Mike McKenzie of M&M Enterprises donated, through the Red Springs Club, four Ficus trees to the county Extension homemakers to be used in their activities.

Betty Cook was voted Club Homemaker of the Year. This honor is based on valuable contributions made to programs of Extension homemakers. A get-well gift was given to Sybil Harris, who is recovering from surgery at Twin Rivers Rehabilitation Center.

The fall council meeting will meet at the Arkadelphia Methodist Church October 22. A one day trip is planned October 31 to the Canton Flea Market.
