Plans Finalized For Forest Festival Plans are now being finalized for the 18thPublished Wednesday, September 30, 1998 in the Gurdon Timesannual Gurdon Forest Festival. The festival will be held Saturday, October 31, on Main Street in Gurdon, according to Freddie Horne, festival coordinator. The Gurdon Community Development and Entertainment Club sponsors the event which features a large arts and crafts show, antique and classic car show, country music, parade, gospel singing and a big street dance. Other special events will also be planned throughout the day. The War Memorial Park Midway show, along with other rides, games, 'jail', train, food booths and drawings will be available for a full day of fun. The Rotary Club will sponsor the pancake breakfast that morning and the Senior Adult Center will sponsor a special fish fry in the evening. Special event coordinators are: antique car show, Terry Norris, 353-2947; beauty pageant, Paul Shaver, 353-2609, or Billy Wells, 353-4335; parade, Jerry Childers, 353-4609 or Jo Ann Shaver, 353-4640; logging games, Jessie Runyan, 353-2776; and arts and crafts, auction, food, entertainment, Freddie Horne, 353-2588. Arts and crafts booths will be $15 each and registration for the car show will be $10. All food booths have been reserved. The arts and crafts show and antique car show, along with other events, will be open free to the public. All time slots have been booked for the festival bandstand shows at this time.
