Groups Are Non-Profit OrganizationsPublished Wednesday, October 7, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneThe Boys to Men and the Girls to Women are two separate organizations. However, their aims and goals are the same. Both groups are non-profit organizations, established to help at risk young men to avoid the use of drugs, alcohol, tobacco and gang violence; and to assist them in becoming productive citizens in our society. The two groups recently held its second video night, which turned out to be very successful. The two videos shown, 'No Matter How You Say It Say No,' and 'If You change Your Mind,' exceeded the youths and adults expectations. These videos displayed the reality of how street life is in most inner-cities and small towns and the difficulties in overcoming peer pressure. The coalition will continue to sponsor similar programs, films and presentations during the remainder of the school year. There was a total of 57 persons in attendance of which 37 were youth and 20 adults. The community is encouraged to participate and support all Boys to Men and Girls to Women activities.
