Ruth Dice MatthewsPublished Wednesday, October 7, 1998 in the Nevada County PicayuneRuth Dice Matthews, 72, of Pine Bluff, died Tuesday, September 29, 1998, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Matthews was born May 8, 1926, in Humnoke, to the late Charles Smith and Zora Mae Jones Smith. She received her education in Tomlin Schools. She was a homemaker and attended Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clarence Smith, and two sisters, Ellen Weeks and Rachel Nobles. Survivors include her husband, T.J. Matthews of Pine Bluff, whom she married April 3, 1978; two sons, Larry Dice of Pine Bluff and Charles Dice of Prescott; one daughter, Kathy Burchett of Pine Bluff; five stepsons, Roy Matthews of White Hall, Ronnie Matthews of Pine Bluff, Carroll Matthews of Oregon, Wilbur Matthews of Dallas and Billy Wayne Sanders of White Hall; three stepdaughters, Kathy Carnahan of White Hall, Etta Boggs of Gainesville, Texas, and Joann Heflin of Pine Bluff; a sister, Maycel Sanders of Pine Bluff; 25 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, October 2, in the chapel of Cranford Funeral Home of White Hall with Brothers Gary Akers and Don Nobles officiating.
