FYIPublished Wednesday, October 13, 1999 in the Gurdon TimesIn order for contestants to compete in this year's Forest Festival pageants, all entry forms and fees must be turned in by Friday, October 15. Rehearsal schedule will be in next week's Times. Arkansas Rehabilitation Services will hold sessions at the Gurdon Municipal Building on Oct. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and Oct. 28 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There will be a gospel singing concert Sat., Oct. 16, at 7:00 p.m. at First Church of God on Highway 67 South. The Messengers of Hope is the group performing. A Needs Assessment meeting will be held October 21, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to obtain information from individuals, families and service providers about service needs and other issues of importance in the lives of people with developmental disabilities. Interested parties will meet at Elk Horn Bank, refreshments will be served. The newly formed Lions Club is now able to begin collecting old eye glasses. The collection point in Gurdon is the First Baptist Church or you can call Charles Shaver at 353-4640. The club will also have a booth at the Forest Festival. Old glasses are recycled by Lions International. Gurdon Masonic Lodge 187 meets the first and third Tuesday of each month. All members are urged to attend. Alcoholics Anonymous meets on Wednesdays and Sundays at 8:00 p.m. at the American Legion building, Highway 67 North, one mile out of Gurdon. For more information, phone 353-4698.
