Oak GroveLula Q. KendrickPublished Wednesday, October 21, 1998 in the Nevada County Picayune I went to Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church Sunday to Rev. and Mrs. Chester Fort's appreciation. They gave them a very nice appreciation. They show they love them. Rev. J.W. McCraw, pastor of Pleasant and Kendrick Chapel, brought a wonderful message. His choir really did sing good. Our pastor, Rev. Lessly Banks, and wife appreciation will be held Sunday at New Bethel A.M.E. Church in Rosston. The Young Circuit, which consists of Cana and New Salem, is planning to send him to conference with his head high. Rev. Herbert Adams from Prescott will bring the message Our annual conference will be held at Malvern starting October 28. Marshell Young's funeral will be Tuesday at Camden at the Church of Christ at 11 a.m. He was to be buried at Pine Grove Cemetery. He was formerly from Rosston. The Cole family sent their cemetery dues for the New Salem Cemetery upkeep. They sent a generous amount of $40. The cemetery is well kept. Minnie Evans' son Ricky visited her over the weekend. Clyde Simpson has been dismissed from the hospital in Texarkana. He is doing pretty good. Artie Velt was able to be at church Sunday. He seems to being doing good. Gladys Blakely is still on our sick list. Her son, Charles Blakely, has been visiting her. Charles lives in Mississippi. Ira Lou Long and husband went to Tennessee to visit his people. We miss her. She is a very smart woman. Mrs. Vera Purifoy went to Magnolia last week. Please go to the poll and vote on November 3. Don't stay home and say they are going to do what they want to.
