Alcoholics Anonymous, a fellowship of men and women who wish to stop drinking, meets every Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church.

Al-Anon, for those affected by another's drinking, meets Thursday

evenings at 8:00 in the church. For more information call 887-5991.

A representative of the Texarkana Social Security office will be in Prescott in the Social Security room in the courthouse on Thursday, October 22, Tuesday, November 24, and Tuesday, December 22, from 9 a.m. until 12:00 noon.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays monthly checks to people who are aged, disabled or blind and who do not own much or have much income. SSI is not just for adults. Monthly checks can be paid to disabled and blind children. To find out if you are eligible, call 1- 800-772-1213.

Mom's In Touch Pray group now has a mail box number for the teachers and faculty. The number is 887-6262.

The Nevada County Cancer Unit will host the Chamber of Commerce coffee on Thursday, October 29, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. The coffee will be held at Central Baptist Church. Everyone is encouraged to attend.

The PHS Student Council has a few Curley Wolf fund raising items long and short sleeved T-shirts, key chains and bags left at the Chamber of Commerce office.

These items have been marked down for quick sell. They will make excellent Christmas gifts. All proceeds go to the PHS Student Council.

There will be a workday Saturday, October 31, at Friendship Cemetery near Cale.

All concerned should come early and bring work tools. All workers are needed.

There will be a county-wide meeting on Thursday, November 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Nevada County Extension office in Prescott for all youth and 4-H members who are interested in having a livestock project.

For additional information about this meeting or 4-H, contact the Extension office at 887- 2818.

The Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce will sponsor a Halloween costume contest for all area business employees Friday, October 30.

A judging team will come around to your business and judge you while at work. Money awards will be given.

First place winner will receive $20; second place, $15; and third place, $10.

If you would like to enter call the Chamber office at 887-2101 by today, October 28. There is no entry fee.

The Artesian Arts League will hold its quarterly meeting on Tuesday, November 3, at 6:30 p.m. at Prescott City Hall.

This will be a planning and organizing meeting to establish the various committees involved with the Arts League's production of 'The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,' to be held in December.

It is very important for all members to attend this meeting. Anyone interested in becoming involved with the Artesian Arts League is welcome to attend.

The Prescott Band Boosters will hold its regularly monthly meeting Tuesday, November 3, at 7 p.m. at the Prescott High School band hall.

Everyone is encouraged to attend.

The Emmet School board will have its regular monthly meeting, Monday, November 2, at 7 p.m. in room 4.

The agenda will include reports from the elementary and high school principals, superintendent's report, and personnel matters.

The Hope Quilter's Guild will hold its monthly business meeting Monday, November 2, at 7 p.m. in the Citizens National Bank conference room, located at Third and Elm Streets in Hope.

Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District will hold a meeting of the board of directors Wednesday, November 11, at the Western Sizzlin Restaurant in Hope. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

Sammy and Gerri Griffin of Prescott announce the birth of their daughter, Kelli Cheyenne, born Thursday, October 1, 1998, at 9:16 a.m. She weighed five pounds and 15 ounces.

Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Craig of Prescott and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Griffin of Delight.

A representative for Main Street Arkansas will be in town November 4 at 5:30 p.m. at the Bank of Prescott.

He will give a presentation about what the Main Street Program is about.

The public is welcome. There will be a time for questions and answers after the presentation.

The Prescott Athletic Booster Club will sponsor a chili supper Thursday, November 5, at 5:30 to 7:00 p.m in the Prescott Elementary cafetorium.

For tickets, contact any football player or booster club member. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Carry outs are available.
