Fair Pageants Begin Thursday NightPublished Wednesday, September 1, 1999 in the Nevada County PicayuneBY JOHN MILLER With the 63rd Annual Nevada County Fair underway, it's time to crown some queens. Pageants for this year's edition of the fair will begin Thursday at 6 p.m. in the newly air conditioned Potlatch building on the grounds. The stage has been set with a full slate of contestants ready to compete for the titles of Tiny Miss. They are: Lexie Ledbetter, Kenzie Walker, Zoie Otwell, Tanesha Evans and Bethanie Fuller. Those vying for the crown of Little Miss are: Morgan Hight, Sindy Morton, Brooke Adkins, Kaylee Fincher, Elizabeth McBride, Daisha Collier, Shelly Glass and Samantha Brown. The Petite Miss category contestants are: Jonnequa Jones, Alexia Muldrow, Alejandra Ramos, Brooke Cornelius, Ashley McBride, Kelsey Glass, Lauren Avery and Sarah Hartman. Thursday night's pageantry ends with the Young Miss contest. Those young ladies are: Alyssa Andrews, Raven Nolen and Chelsie Ward. The pageantry takes Friday night off so the Curley Wolves can open their season on the gridiron by hosting the Mineral Springs Hornets. It resumes Saturday night, starting with the Junior Miss group. This slate of contestants includes: Heather Hawthorne, Meagan Martin and Brandy Harvel. This will be followed by the Teen Miss crew, made up of: Cassie Cottingham, Jill Hubbard, Haley Muldrow, Jenny Hurd and Sheree Garrison. The night's festivities will end with the crowning of the Fair Queen. Those vying for this crown are: Crystal Moss, Chasity Reeves, Danielle Box, Traci Graham and Abby Morman. There will be a $1 charge at the door for those coming to the pageants each night. Program books will be on sale for $2 each. The admission fee will be sued to purchase new doors for the building.
