Former Businessman, Plyler, DiesPublished Wednesday, November 4, 1998 in the Gurdon TimesJoe Marion Plyler, 84, of Gurdon passed away Wednesday, October 28, 1998. He was born March 26, 1914, in Nevada County. Mr. Plyler was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church and was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired business man of Gurdon, where he owned Joe's Auto Supply, later known as Otasco, for over 40 years. He survived by his wife, Tainnie Plyler of Gurdon; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Sarah Plyler and Gary and Wendy Plyler, all of Gurdon; five grandsons, Michael and his wife Sharon of Hot Springs, Mark, Mitch, Joe and Jake; one granddaughter, Jill; and one great grandson, Lawson; two sisters, Betty Dean of Lancaster, Texas, and Eva Williams of New Orleans, La.; and four brothers, Garland Plyler of Arkadelphia, Al Plyler of Prescott, Frank Plyler of Little Rock and Watson Plyler of Tyler, Texas. Pallbearers were Jimmy Wright, Jerry Langley, Billy Bob Gates, Steve Plyler, Greg Plyler, Charles Plyler, Kenneth Robertson, Mike Dean and Pat Dean.
