The Devils posted 16 first downs and allowed 10.

Gurdon's defense recorded the only sack of the game.

Additionally, Gurdon's ground game added 180 yards to the stats on 40 carries, while the Rattlers had 130 yards on 36 rushes.

Overall Gurdon ran 46 plays to 45 by Murfreesboro, gaining a total of 307 offensive yards, while the defense grudgingly gave 168.

Charles was Gurdon's leading ground gainer, rushing for 98 yards on 16 carries. Hatley carried six times for 42 yards.

Rashon Hopson and Allen each carried eight times, with Hopson gaining 15 yards and Allen getting 14. Griffin lost two yards on his only carry, while Chad Cox gained 13 in one attempt.

League standings show the third ranked Devils alone in first place with a 6-0 conference record and 8-1 overall.

Murfreesboro is second at 5-1, 7-2; with Mineral Springs next at 5-2, 5-3. Horatio is currently fourth with a 4-2, 5-4 mark, while Foreman is fifth at this time, 2-4, 4-5. Stamps, 2-4, 3- 6, is next, with Dierks, 1-5, 2-5-1, and Lewisville, 0-7, 0-9, bringing up the rear.

This week's games has Stamps at Dierks and Murfreesboro at Foreman. Gurdon will be at home, hosting Horatio for the Devils' homecoming game.

Gurdon is assured of playing at least one game in the playoffs, and will face the fourth place team from the 7AA East. This could either be Norphlet or Bearden, depending on the outcome of their final games. Norphlet ends their season Thursday night against Junction City, while Bearden goes to Hermitage.
